HORIZON HOUSING INTERNSHIP

In August 2016, I began work experience at Horizon Housing as an intern in their Business Development team. My first task was to complete an unfinished Post-Occupancy Evaluation report, which reviewed the success of twelve of Horizon's earliest development projects.

My second task was to write a second Post-Occupancy Evaluation report, reviewing twelve of Horizon's most recently completed development projects. This entailed quantitative research into the projects' scheduling and financing records, along with qualitative research in the form of tenant satisfaction surveys and internal staff interviews. From this research, I was able to identify opportunities for improvement, and provided a list of recommendations for future developments and POE studies.

In this internship, I was able to learn about affordable and social housing in Queensland, property development processes, social research methods, and the value of post-occupancy reviews. In addition, I developed skills in using Microsoft Outlook, Project and Excel programs.
